Mangaluru: Woman fined Rs 26,000 for letting minor son ride motorbike

Mangaluru, Nov 5: A Mangaluru woman has been fined Rs 26,000 for allowing her minor son to ride a motorbike, a case that has drawn attention to road safety concerns involving children.

On October 10, Hatajamma, owner of the two-wheeler with registration KA19HR4112, reportedly permitted her underaged son to operate the vehicle at Bykampadi. Following the incident, a case was registered at the Mangaluru North Traffic police station.

The matter was subsequently heard by the 4th JMFC Court, Mangaluru, which conducted a thorough inquiry. The court noted that allowing a minor to drive a motor vehicle was a serious violation of traffic regulations.

“As the owner of the vehicle, she is responsible for ensuring it is not misused, especially by a minor,” a court official stated.

On November 5, the court imposed a fine of Rs 26,000 on Hatajamma, sending a clear message about road safety and legal accountability.
