Bengaluru, Nov 4: Police in Bengaluru have arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly stalking and sexually harassing a television actress by sending her obscene messages and videos over social media.

The accused, identified as Naveen K, worked as a delivery manager at a private firm in Whitefield, police said.

According to investigators, the actress had been receiving vulgar messages for nearly three months from a Facebook account under the name Naveenz. Although she did not accept the friend request, the accused allegedly continued to send lewd messages through Messenger.

After the actress blocked him, Naveen reportedly created several fake accounts and continued to harass her by sending obscene videos, including explicit clips of himself. Despite repeated warnings, the harassment allegedly persisted, the woman stated in her complaint.

On November 1, when the accused messaged her again, the complainant invited him to meet at a restaurant in the city. When she confronted him in person and demanded that he stop, he allegedly ignored her and behaved rudely. She then alerted the police, who arrived at the spot and apprehended the suspect.

“Based on her complaint, we registered a case under Sections 75(1)(iii) (sexual harassment), 78(1)(ii) (stalking), and 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station and arrested the accused,” a senior police officer said.

Police added that further investigation is under way to determine whether Naveen had targeted other women online.
