Ranchi, Nov 3: A dramatic scene unfolded in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district when the wife of a senior administrative officer caught him red-handed with his girlfriend inside his official residence and locked the couple in a room. A video of the incident has since gone viral, sparking shock and discussions across the state.

The incident took place at the official quarters of Mazhiyawan Circle Officer (CO) Pramod Kumar. His wife, Dr. Shyama Rani, daughter of a former Bihar MP, reportedly had long suspected her husband of having an extramarital affair. Acting on suspicion, she reached her husband’s government quarters around 4 am on Sunday without informing anyone.

Upon entering the residence, she allegedly found her husband with another woman. Enraged, Shyama Rani locked both of them inside the room, leading to chaos in the house.

Police said that a heated argument ensued between the couple inside the locked room for quite some time. After being informed, officers from the Mazhiyawan Police Station arrived at the spot. However, before they could intervene, CO Pramod Kumar reportedly escaped by jumping off the roof, sustaining minor injuries while fleeing the scene.

The police later detained the woman who was inside the residence with the officer. She was handed over to the women’s police station for further questioning.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Shyama Rani confirmed that she had long doubted her husband’s illicit relationship and now plans to pursue legal action.

The high-profile marital dispute involving a government officer has created a buzz in the administrative circles of Jharkhand. Officials have so far refrained from commenting on the sensitive case.
