Jessica Simpson marks eight years of sobriety, says alcohol once silenced my intuition

Los Angeles, Nov 2: Hollywood actress, singer, and fashion entrepreneur Jessica Simpson has opened up about her journey toward sobriety, reflecting on how giving up alcohol transformed her life and restored her sense of clarity and purpose.

The 45-year-old star celebrated eight years of sobriety by sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the personal and spiritual growth she has experienced since deciding to quit drinking.

“Eight years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess, and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,” Simpson wrote. “Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of God’s purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams, and chased my circulating fears of complacency.”

She continued, “Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith. Both fear and faith are things we feel but may not see — I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It wasn’t in the fight that I found my strength; it was in the surrender.”

As reported by Female First UK, Simpson has previously spoken about how sobriety brought honesty and balance back into her life. Earlier this year, she told People magazine that quitting alcohol helped her reconnect with her music and regain emotional authenticity.

“The moment I started drinking too much was when I began writing music in 2016. It made me feel sorry for myself — alcohol was lying to me, saying, ‘You’re braver because I’m here with you,’” she said. “But I’m actually much more honest without alcohol — I believe myself so much more now.”

Simpson, who was married to singer Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006 and recently announced her separation from Eric Johnson, revealed that drinking often numbed her emotions. “It made my emotions quiet. Instead of addressing them, dealing with them, and getting through it, I was just letting them be,” she admitted.

Now, eight years sober, Simpson says she feels guided by faith, purpose, and self-acceptance — choosing clarity and courage over fear and self-doubt.
