Mumbai, Nov 1: Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared an emotional account of his meeting with Madhu Shah, wife of late actor Satish Shah, who passed away last week. In a heartfelt video posted on X, Kher described his visit to the Shah residence and his moving conversation with Madhu, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Anupam Kher, who shared screen space with Satish Shah in popular films including Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Judwaa, was not in town when his dear friend passed away. Shah, known for his memorable performances in films and television shows like Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Filmi Chakkar, died on October 25 following a cardiac arrest at the age of 74. He had undergone kidney transplant surgery a few months ago.

Sharing his grief, Kher wrote in Hindi that he was at a loss for words to comfort Madhu, a former designer. He said he struggled to hold back tears, unsure whether they were for Satish’s passing or Madhu’s fading memory. Kher said the one hour he spent at their house was filled with sadness and he promised Madhu that he would visit her regularly.

In the video, Kher recalled that Madhu first recognised him and thanked him for coming but soon lost her memory. When he gently asked how she was doing, she mentioned that Kirron Kher used to visit her. For a brief moment, she said “chala gaya,” referring to her husband’s passing, before breaking into tears and again losing her memory.

The actor’s post has deeply moved fans and members of the film fraternity, who have expressed their condolences and praised Kher for standing by his late friend’s family during their time of grief.
