National-level Kabaddi player shot dead after argument with friends

Ludhiana, Oct 31: A national-level kabaddi player was shot dead following an argument with his friends in Ludhiana district of Punjab, police said on Friday.

The deceased, Tejpal Singh (26), was walking towards a factory in Jagraon along with two friends when a dispute broke out between them over an old rivalry. The argument quickly escalated, and an unidentified person, who joined his friends during the altercation, pulled out a handgun and shot Tejpal in the chest, police added.

The incident occurred near the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). Covered in blood, Tejpal was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Police said a manhunt has been launched to trace the shooter, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the killing.
