Porvorim, Oct 31: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday distributed forms under the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme to beneficiaries in the Porvorim constituency, reaffirming the government’s commitment to regularising houses built on government and comunidade lands.

The distribution function, held at Socorro, was attended by Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, and panch members of Socorro, Penha de Franca, and Salvador do Mundo.

Addressing the gathering, CM Sawant elaborated on the benefits of the ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme, which aims to provide legal recognition and security to families residing in homes constructed before February 2014 on such lands.

He urged comunidades to cooperate with the government by withdrawing pending court cases and issuing No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to eligible residents. “The required amount will be collected from the beneficiaries and paid to the comunidades accordingly,” Sawant assured.

Rajya Sabha MP Tanavade and Minister Khaunte also addressed the event, appreciating the initiative’s role in ensuring housing stability for Goan families.
