Goa assembly 2027: NCP announces independent contest, eyes state foothold

Daijiworld Media Network - Margao

Margao, Oct 26: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, announced on Saturday that it will contest the 2027 Goa state assembly elections independently.

At a press conference, NCP national spokesperson Brijmohan Shrivastav acknowledged that the party is starting from scratch in Goa. “Currently, we have no committee in Goa, nor an office here. We are marking our beginning in the state,” he said.

Shrivastav added that the party is actively identifying local talent to strengthen its presence. “We will contest the 2027 assembly elections in Goa on our own strength. We will have no alliance with any other party,” he asserted, emphasizing NCP’s independent political stance.

On the upcoming local body elections, Shrivastav stated that the party will depute observers to assess the situation before deciding on participation.

The move signals NCP’s strategic entry into Goa’s political landscape, aiming to gradually build a base ahead of the 2027 polls.
