Rajasthan SDM suspended after viral video shows altercation with CNG pump staff

Jaipur, Oct 24: The Rajasthan government has suspended Chhotu Lal Sharma, a state civil service officer serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Pratapgarh, following a viral video showing him allegedly slapping a CNG pump employee during an altercation.

The Department of Personnel issued the suspension order on Thursday night, citing administrative reasons. During the suspension, Sharma will be attached to the Secretariat, Personnel Department, Jaipur.

The incident occurred on Wednesday and was captured on CCTV footage, showing Sharma and the CNG pump staff reportedly slapping each other over a dispute regarding refuelling Sharma’s vehicle.

In connection with the case, police have arrested three petrol pump employees – Deepak Mali, Prabhu Lal Kumawat, and Raja Sharma – and further investigations are ongoing.
