Sullia, Oct 20: A complaint has been lodged with Bellar Police Station against a textile shop in Gandhinagar, Sullia, after it allegedly dumped waste in Bengamale, Ivernad village.

On Oct 15, three bags filled with waste were found at different spots in Bengamale. Upon inspection, the bags were traced back to the Gandhinagar textile shop. Documents such as electricity bills and festival invitations in the shop’s name were recovered from the bags, linking them directly to the store.

The bags had been dumped at multiple locations over a week. When the village panchayat instructed the shop owners to pay a fine, they initially refused. Later that night, the shop owners reportedly returned the three bags of waste they had dumped.

Despite retrieving the waste, the owners’ refusal to pay the fine prompted Ivernad Panchayat Development Officer Shyam Prasad to file a complaint at Bellar Police Station against the shop. Authorities are yet to take action, while the panchayat has urged strict enforcement to prevent future violations.
