Uttar Pradesh, Oct 19: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife and buried her body beneath his bed, continuing to sleep over it for several days, police said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Harikishan of Narpatpurwa village, reportedly killed his wife Phoola Devi (45) and concealed her body under the floor of his room. According to police, Phoola’s family had been unable to contact her since October 6 and lodged a missing person complaint on October 13.

The gruesome crime was uncovered when Phoola’s brother visited the house on Friday morning and noticed freshly laid mud beneath the bed. He immediately informed the police.

During excavation later that evening, officers found Phoola’s decomposed body buried nearly six feet deep under the floor. By then, Harikishan had fled the scene.

ASP (City) Ramanand Kushwaha confirmed that the body was sent for post-mortem examination and forensic samples were collected. A murder case has been registered, and police have launched a manhunt to nab the absconding accused.
