Mangaluru, Oct 19: Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School, CBSE, celebrated Grandparents Day with immense joy and affection on October 18 in the school auditorium. The event, organised by the Nursery and Kindergarten sections, was a beautiful expression of love and gratitude towards the grandparents who play such a vital role in every child’s life.

The celebration was graced by Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, director of the Family Life Centre, Bajjodi, diocese of Mangalore, as the chief guest. He was joined by principal Sr Pramila, administrator Sr Julie Ann, and other dignitaries.

The programme began on a heartwarming note as the tiny tots greeted their grandparents at the entrance with roses a gesture of love and respect. The event commenced with a soulful prayer dance by the UKG students, followed by a cheerful welcome dance by the LKG students. Tr Preema then extended a warm welcome to all, setting a joyful tone for the celebration.

The cultural programme that followed was vibrant and touching, featuring delightful performances by the Nursery, LKG, and UKG students. A special highlight was a skit by the UKG students, beautifully depicting the precious bond shared between grandparents and grandchildren. To add to the fun, exciting games were organised for the grandparents, filling the hall with laughter and joy. The winners were later felicitated with prizes.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza encouraged the elderly to cherish life with positivity and gratitude. He reminded them that every day is a new beginning and emphasized the importance of staying active through simple exercises, yoga, and walks. He also urged them to share their life experiences with their grandchildren, impart values and traditions, and nurture a strong spiritual connection through daily prayer. Fr Alwyn appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of the grandparents, praising their energy and cheerful spirit.

The event was delightfully anchored by the LKG and UKG students, who impressed everyone with their poise and confidence. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the students, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, principal Sr Pramila, administrator Sr Julie Ann, vice principal Sr Anitha, coordinator Sr Ashwina, and all who contributed to making the day special.

The day truly served as a loving tribute to the pillars of our families our grandparents who left the venue with hearts full of joy, pride, and unforgettable memories.
