New Delhi, Oct 18: Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday dismissed speculation of friction within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, asserting that the alliance remains cohesive and functions in a healthy democratic manner.
Responding to media queries about alleged seat-sharing tensions and internal disagreements, Shah said that dialogue and demands are part of any democratic coalition, not signs of disunity. “This is not a military organisation but a coalition of democratic parties. It’s natural for partners to voice their opinions. That doesn’t mean there’s a rift,” he stated.

Amid swirling reports of discontent among allies in Bihar, Shah clarified that the NDA had completed its internal processes—allocating seats, finalising candidates, and filing nominations—without any significant turmoil. “There has been no rebellion. Everything has been done with discipline,” he said, emphasising that once decisions are made, all allies stand by them in line with the alliance’s shared ideology.
Drawing a sharp contrast with the opposition’s INDIA bloc, Shah said, “None of this clarity exists there.” He implied that the opposition front continued to struggle with coordination and consensus, particularly over leadership and seat-sharing arrangements.
Shah’s remarks align with the BJP’s broader electoral narrative, positioning the NDA as a disciplined, stable coalition in contrast to a fragmented opposition. With Bihar seen as a key battleground ahead of the 2025 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP appears intent on projecting internal harmony within the NDA as a strategic advantage.
