Mangaluru, Oct 19: The vibrant campus of St Theresa’s School, Bendur came alive with music, colour, and joy as the school hosted its grand Annual Day Celebration, “Echoes of Tomorrow,” on October 18, at the Msgr. Raymond Auditorium.

The Theresian Band proudly escorted the dignitaries, setting a tone of honour and elegance for the evening. The occasion was graced by Elfreeda D’Silva, member of the Karnataka Public Service Commission, who presided as the chief guest.

The event was held under the esteemed leadership of Sr Rose Celine BS, superior general of the Bethany Congregation and president of the Bethany Educational Society (BES). She was accompanied by Sr Shaila BS, correspondent of the School, and Sr Lourdes BS, principal of St Theresa’s School.

The celebration commenced with the lighting of the sacred lamp, symbolising the dispelling of darkness and the dawn of knowledge and enlightenment.

The programme opened with a prayerful dance-drama by the students of Class VIII, portraying how faith, love, and service—the values taught by St Thérèse of Lisieux and Servant of God RFC Mascarenhas — continue to inspire young hearts. Through petitions, narration, and graceful movements, the performance beautifully reflected the guiding presence of the teachers and sisters.

Sr Lourdes B S, the principal, accorded the gathering a warm and heartfelt welcome, setting the tone for an evening filled with gratitude and celebration.

This sacred opening was followed by a joyful welcome dance, radiating warmth, grace, and the spirit of togetherness that defines St Theresa’s School.

The cultural programme unfolded with a series of captivating performances. The students presented a thought-provoking Kannada drama, “Hongirana,” highlighting the importance of avoiding food wastage. Through their act, they reminded everyone to respect the hard work of farmers and to value every grain of rice.

The play also reflected the school’s deep commitment to social service—an integral part of Theresian education—through which students learn to spread kindness and awareness, fulfilling the dreams of St. Thérèse and RFC Mascarenhas.

In her inspiring address, the chief guest, Elfreeda D’Silva, lauded the efforts of the students and staff, encouraging them to pursue excellence with sincerity and compassion. In her presidential message of wisdom, Sr Rose Celine spoke of education as a mission rooted in love and service, inspiring all present to nurture the divine spark within each child.

The cultural highlight, “Spirit of India – From Roots to Radiance,” presented by the students of Class IX, celebrated India’s strength, beauty, and diversity. Drawing inspiration from national symbols such as the Lotus, Tiger, Peacock, and Chakra, the performance unfolded in a series of spectacular dances—from the prosperity of agriculture in the Lotus Dance to the bravery and resilience of the Chakra Dance.

Each sequence radiated patriotic fervour, showcasing India’s unity in diversity and the richness of its heritage.

The students of Class X then staged a remarkable dance-drama titled “The Echoes of Tomorrow.” The story traced the journey of Mahek and her five friends who dream of changing the world. Their aspirations falter under ridicule and the distractions of social media, leaving them disheartened. Mahek soon realizes that true dreams are fulfilled only when shared. Reuniting her friends, they rediscover faith, courage, and unity, creating a shared vision of purpose. Blending dialogue, dance, and music, the play conveyed a powerful message—Dream, Believe, and Share, for true success lies in faith and togetherness. The students delivered a truly commendable and moving performance.

The celebration concluded with expressions of gratitude and the National Anthem, filling every heart with pride and patriotism. The evening stood as a radiant testimony to the Theresian spirit—one of faith, excellence, and joy—truly echoing the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
