Bengaluru, Oct 18: Actress Sampada, who made her silver screen debut with Raider, saw a major turning point in her career with the film Ekka. Playing the character of Mallika, she showcased her acting prowess and earned recognition from audiences and critics alike. Sampada also played the lead in Karavali alongside Prajwal Devaraj.

Sampada entered the entertainment world at the age of 16 with the TV serial Mithuna Rashi and later established herself as a lead actress with the film Bengki. Currently, she has three projects in hand, including a Telugu film, marking her entry into Tollywood.

Speaking about the impact of Ekka, Sampada said, “Although I have been part of the film industry for four years, it is only after Ekka that people began to recognize me. I can see the impact of my performance through the audience response.”

Recalling the casting experience, she said, “When director Rohith Padaki narrated the story, I was intrigued by the role of Mallika. At that time, there was no final decision on which lead role I would play. Only Yuva and I were considered for the lead roles. Rohith asked me which character I preferred, and I mentioned Mallika because it had intensity and offered ample scope to showcase my acting skills. I felt fortunate to finally get that role. I even prepared during the story reading sessions on how to portray the character and chose the costumes myself.”

Sampada described her experience shooting Karavali as a journey of discovery. “My father is from Mandya and my mother from Doddaballapura. I was born and raised in Bengaluru, so Karavali was a completely new world for me. Until I watched Kantara, I wasn’t familiar with the region. During filming, I enjoyed experiencing the local culture and practices, including observing days without consuming meat and visiting multiple temples. I also learned about the deity Koragajja. Karavali gave me a unique and enriching experience,” she said.

A passionate traveler, Sampada shared, “I love exploring new places. I spent a year in Singapore for a course, visited London after Ekka, and have plans to travel to Japan in December. I am always curious to learn about new cultures and explore new destinations.”

Talking about her current projects, she said, “After Ekka, I received numerous opportunities. I went through about 15 story offers, but I am very selective about the script and character. Four stories stood out for me. I have accepted two Kannada projects and one Telugu film, which I got during the Ekka shoot. These projects will be announced soon.”

Sampada continues to impress audiences with her versatility and dedication, taking her career to new heights across languages.
