New Delhi, Oct 17: A migrant labourer from Bihar has been charge-sheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly aiding banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in plans to execute attacks in Jammu & Kashmir and Tamil Nadu, the agency confirmed on Friday.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Akhlaque Mujahid alias Akhalatur, hails from Katihar district in Bihar and was working at a private construction site in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, when he was arrested in April this year by local police for anti-national activities.
Following the arrest, the NIA took over the investigation due to the serious nature of the charges. In its probe, the agency found that Akhalatur was allegedly in contact with LeT handlers in Pakistan via online platforms and was conspiring with them to target non-Muslims (referred to as "Kafirs") in Tamil Nadu.

According to the NIA, the accused also made attempts to procure arms by reaching out to weapons dealers, with the aim of carrying out a jihadi-style terror attack to destabilise the country.
He has been charge-sheeted under Sections 196 and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 13(1)(b) and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P)A). The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Poonamallee, Chennai.
The agency credited swift action by security forces for thwarting the planned attack. Investigations are ongoing under case number RC-01/2025/NIA/CHE, which is also probing radicalisation and violent extremism linked to Salafi ideologies in India.
This development comes just days after the NIA filed a chargesheet against eight individuals involved in a 2020 narco-terror case, in which drugs smuggled from Pakistan via Gujarat were intended to fund LeT operations.
