Panaji, Oct 16: Goa’s tourism department outlined ambitious plans to boost the state’s tourism infrastructure and visitor safety at the tourism ministers’ conference in Udaipur, which concluded on Wednesday. Key proposals include a 20,000-seat performance arena at Mandrem and a museum and lifescape project dedicated to Lord Parshuram at Loliem.

Tourism Director Kedar Naik highlighted that these projects aim to strengthen Goa as a year-round tourism destination by combining infrastructure development, heritage conservation, and digital solutions to enhance visitor engagement and safety. He added that the initiatives are expected to generate economic opportunities for local communities while elevating Goa’s profile on the global tourism map.

Goa’s presentation also identified seven focus areas for tourism growth: eco and nature-based tourism, backwater experiences, heritage and culture, meetings and conventions, adventure tourism, leisure and entertainment, and wellness and spiritual tourism.

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte stressed that Goa’s strategy seeks to balance economic growth with environmental protection and community participation. He noted that new projects in Pernem and Canacona will redefine the state’s tourism landscape, promoting both community development and sustainable growth.
