Srinagar, Oct 13: In a continued push to dismantle separatist and terror-linked networks, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday conducted a series of coordinated searches across Srinagar, targeting individuals allegedly associated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Hurriyat Conference.
According to an official statement, Srinagar Police launched simultaneous raids at multiple locations as part of an ongoing operation against proscribed organisations. The searches were carried out in strict adherence to legal protocols.
Residences searched included those of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, also known as Goga Shahib or Mushtaqul Islam, from Kashi Mohalla in Batamaloo; Ashraf Sehrai, son of Mohd. Shumasdin from Baghat; Mehrajuddin Kalwal alias Raj Kalwal, originally from Rainawari’s Kalwal Mohalla and currently residing in Hamza Colony, Kenihama (now in NIA custody); and Zameer Ahmad Sheikh from Gulshan Nagar, Nowgam.

During the searches, authorities seized various incriminating materials, including separatist literature and photographs reportedly linked to outlawed organisations.
“These operations are part of a sustained effort to break the backbone of the separatist-terrorist ecosystem in the Valley by identifying and dismantling its support structures,” the police said.
Reaffirming their commitment to peace and public order, Srinagar Police stated that action would continue against individuals or networks involved in activities deemed unlawful or anti-national.
This operation aligns with the broader security strategy in Jammu and Kashmir, where police and security forces have intensified efforts to neutralize terrorist elements, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathisers.
Authorities are also actively tracking financial channels, including hawala operators and drug traffickers, believed to be fueling terrorism through illicit funding.
While the police and paramilitary forces conduct operations within the Valley’s urban and rural areas, the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) remain vigilant along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) to prevent infiltration and cross-border movement of militants.
