FIR filed against man for running illegal foreign job agency in Margao

Margao, Oct 12: Fatorda police have registered an FIR against Shaikh Mohammed Shoheb for allegedly running an illegal foreign recruitment business under the Immigration Act without a valid licence.

The action follows a complaint lodged by Avaneesh Shukla, Protector of Emigration, Bengaluru jurisdiction (covering Karnataka and Goa). As per the complaint, between September 30 and October 9, 2025, Shoheb, a resident of Gogol-Fatorda and manager of “Portugal Direct Office” in Borda-Margao, was found advertising overseas job offers on social media, allegedly deceiving people through unlicensed recruitment activities.

A case under Sections 10 and 24 of the Emigration Act, 1983, has been registered against him. Acting on the complaint, Fatorda police sealed the Portugal Direct Office at Borda-Margao on Friday.
