Luke Coutinho urges people to stop obsessing over the scale, focus on real wellness

Mumbai, Oct 10: For many, stepping on a scale can be an emotional trigger — a slight weight gain or tighter clothes often brings feelings of frustration or failure. Addressing this mindset, wellness coach Luke Coutinho reminded people that their worth isn’t defined by a number.

“I often meet people obsessed with the number on the scale,” Luke shared in an Instagram post. “Weight is just a number, not your worth. Your body is a complex system — muscles, fat, water, bones, and hormones interact in ways a scale can’t capture.”

Encouraging a healthier approach to fitness, Luke offered practical tips to measure progress meaningfully. He advised focusing on energy, strength, endurance, and flexibility rather than just numbers. He said visual cues like posture, clothing fit, and overall appearance often tell a more accurate story of progress.

Luke also highlighted that lean muscle improves metabolism and strengthens bones, while daily weight fluctuations may occur due to hormones, stress, sleep, or hydration levels. He cautioned against extreme diets or detoxes, emphasizing that sustainable results come from balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and consistent effort.

He further advised consulting certified professionals before starting any diet or exercise plan and avoiding unverified supplements or restrictive regimens.

“Remember, your body is your ally, not a number,” Luke said. “Focus on habits, consistency, and how you feel. Real transformation is felt, seen, and experienced.”

He concluded that true wellness lies in understanding and respecting the body, rather than letting the scale dictate one’s sense of progress or self-worth.
