Jaipur, Oct 7: In a significant crackdown, Alwar district police have arrested five individuals accused of orchestrating a forced religious conversion operation targeting poor Hindu men and women, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sudhir Chaudhary stated that the arrests were made following allegations of illegal conversions to Christianity through coercion, inducement, and misinformation. Preliminary investigations have linked the accused to networks operating in Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) and Jaipur.

Religious literature and digital propaganda material, including a pen drive, were recovered from the suspects. According to SP Chaudhary, the operation began after a complaint was filed by a resident of Nainapur village, claiming local Hindu residents were being unlawfully converted.

In response, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was swiftly formed under the leadership of Additional SP (Rural) Priyanka and Circle Officer of Laxmangarh, Kailash Jindal. A police team led by the Baroda Mev SHO launched a probe in the village, uncovering what officials described as a deliberate campaign to misrepresent Hinduism and encourage conversion.

Eyewitness accounts and the confiscated materials helped substantiate the allegations. A formal FIR was registered at the Baroda Mev police station.

Following questioning and review of evidence, five men were arrested:

• Prashant Jatav (25) – Alwar
• Ramnarayan Bairwa (48) – Malakheda
• Mahesh Meghwal (24) – Malakheda
• Keshav Vaidada (39) – Jagatpura, Jaipur
• Rohit Jatav (25) – (Location unspecified)

SP Chaudhary confirmed that the investigation has now widened to explore the full extent of the alleged conversion network, including its sources of funding and possible organisational backing.

The case remains under active investigation, with officials working to trace further links and identify additional suspects involved in the operation.
