Sitapur, Oct 7: A bizarre complaint during Samadhan Diwas in Sitapur district has left officials stunned after a man claimed that his wife ‘turns into a snake at night’ and attempts to bite him.

The complainant, Meraj, a resident of Lodhsa village in Mahmoodabad, told the District Magistrate that his wife, Naseemun, repeatedly tried to kill him while he slept. “My wife tortures me mentally and could kill me any night while I’m asleep,” he alleged.

The story quickly went viral on social media, with users making references to shape-shifting snakes in popular culture. Comments ranged from joking about hidden “naagmani” to likening the situation to the late actress Sridevi’s role in the 1986 film Nagina.

The District Magistrate has ordered an investigation and directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and police to look into the matter. Police have begun an inquiry, treating it as a potential case of mental harassment.

Meraj has also submitted a written application detailing the alleged incidents, claiming that his wife had already bitten him once and often chased him at night after supposedly transforming into a serpent. Authorities are examining the case further to determine the facts.
