New Delhi, Oct 6: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce the schedule for the Bihar Legislative Assembly election 2025 today at 4:00 p.m. at a press conference to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said the elections will conclude before Nov. 22, when the current Assembly’s term ends. The poll body also announced 17 new initiatives after reviewing the state’s election preparedness.

Each polling booth in Bihar will cater to a maximum of 1,200 voters and will have 100% webcasting, allowing real-time monitoring and recording to ensure transparency. Several political parties have requested that the elections be held immediately after Chhath Puja, when many migrant voters return to the state, to ensure greater participation.
The elections are taking place amid controversy over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, with opposition parties alleging mass deletion of voters — claims rejected by the ECI.
The upcoming polls will also witness the debut of the Prashant Kishore-led Jan Suraaj Party, emerging as a potential third pole in Bihar politics.
In the 243-member Assembly, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) currently holds 131 seats (BJP 80, JD(U) 45), while the opposition Mahagathbandhan holds 111 seats (RJD 77, Congress 19, and Left parties 15).
The 2020 Bihar Assembly elections were conducted in three phases amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
