Bengaluru, Oct 5: Kannada actor Vijay Raghavendra has begun shooting for his upcoming family drama ‘Shrimati Sindhura’, directed by Anantaraj R. The film, which recently went on floors, is being produced by D.N. Nagireddy under his home banner. Actress Priya plays the female lead.
Speaking about his role, Vijay Raghavendra said, “I play a man from a respectable family. The character is beautifully written, which is why I accepted the project. I don’t pick roles just for the sake of it — I choose films that have strong stories and meaningful characters. Family-oriented films have become rare these days, but Shrimati Sindhura fills that gap. I’ve worked with many members of this team before, including the director during Mast Maja Maadi. I sincerely thank the producer for investing in a good film at a challenging time for the industry.”

Director Anantaraj R shared details about the project, saying, “I’ve directed several films before, and this story evolved from an idea given by the producer. The film also features a subplot inspired by the story of Lord Hanuman. It has no connection to Operation Sindhura. We chose the title because it conveys a positive sentiment. The film will be shot in Moodigere, Sakaleshpur, and Chikkamagaluru, and the shooting will commence on October 23.”
Lead actress Priya expressed her excitement, saying, “I had auditioned for Vijay Raghavendra’s Malgudi Days but wasn’t selected then. It has always been my dream to act alongside him, and Shrimati Sindhura is making that dream come true. I play a village girl in the film. Everyone on the team is experienced, and I’m the youngest among them. The moment I learned Vijay Raghavendra was the hero, I accepted the role without even hearing the story.”
The film also stars Maruthi, Sushma, Mansi Sudhir, and Ganesh Rao Kesarkar in pivotal roles. Music is composed by Rajesh Ramanath, with cinematography by P.K.H. Das.
