Manglora, Oct 5: A 45-year-old man was shot dead by a youth in Manglora village, Uttar Pradesh, in what police say appears to be revenge for his father’s murder 14 years ago. The victim, identified as Jaivir, was returning from his fields on Saturday evening when the accused, Rahul (30), allegedly opened fire, killing him on the spot.

Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh said a case has been registered against Rahul, who is currently absconding. Jaivir’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Security in the area has been tightened, and additional police personnel have been deployed as a precautionary measure.

According to the victim’s family, the killing stems from an old enmity. Rahul’s father, Brijpal, had been murdered by Jaivir in 2011, for which Jaivir served an 11-year jail term. He had been living in the village for the past three years following his release. Police said efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused.
