Teen drowns during Durga idol Immersion in Ayodhya

Ayodhya, Oct 3: A Durga idol immersion turned tragic in Bikapur tehsil of Ayodhya district when a 16-year-old boy drowned in a pond on Thursday evening.

The victim, identified as Sandeep of Salhipur Parsipur village, had accompanied his family and villagers to witness the immersion ceremony when he slipped into the pond and drowned, police said.

A team of divers carried out a five-hour-long search before recovering the boy’s body. Though he was rushed to the community health centre, doctors declared him brought dead, confirmed Additional District Magistrate Anirudh Singh.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
