Mangaluru, Oct 2: St. Agnes School CBSE Bendur, Mangaluru, celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2, in the school auditorium with deep reverence and patriotic spirit.

The day served as a reminder of Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring legacy of truth, non-violence, simplicity, and service to the nation.

The event commenced with a solemn prayer invoking peace and unity, followed by a graceful welcome dance that captivated the audience. A heartfelt welcome speech was then delivered by Senora of Grade 5.

The esteemed chief guest, Hariprasad Varma M was introduced with great reverence. He holds a Bachelor's degree in computer applications and a Master's in Business Administration, with dual specialisations in Marketing and Finance. Varma has rendered exemplary service across various facets of banking operations and customer relationship management.

In a traditional gesture of respect and goodwill, he was honoured with a flower pot presented by the vice principal, Sr Meena Fernandes AC. This thoughtful act was warmly received and set a gracious and uplifting tone for the rest of the event.

The significance of the event was thoughtfully delivered by Elisha, which inspired everyone to reflect on Gandhi’s legacy and the importance of living by his principles.

Thereafter a graceful dance performance was presented by the students of Class 2. Through their movements, they depicted Gandhi as a powerful and inspiring figure, one who walked with pride and possessed the strength to face challenges. Their performance captivated the audience.

Grade 5 paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi through a heartfelt dance performance. The song they performed, celebrated Gandhi’s remarkable achievement of securing India’s independence without the use of weapons.

Next, the students of Grade 5 and Grade 2 staged an inspiring and heartfelt dance drama based on the core principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The performance highlighted Gandhian values such as truth, non-violence, and peace, bringing these profound teachings to life through vibrant dance drama.

The chief guest, Hariprasad Varma M, addressed the gathering with an insightful speech centered on Gandhian principles and virtues. He stressed the relevance of Gandhiji’s teachings in today’s society and encouraged students to adopt values such as non-violence, service, and simplicity in their daily lives.

The vice principal, Sr Meena Fernandes AC, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message on truthfulness. She spoke about the importance of always speaking the truth and explained that truth is the foundation of a strong character.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s life, she highlighted how his commitment to truth made him a powerful leader. She encouraged students to follow his example and stand by the truth. She also appreciated the sincere efforts of the teachers and students in organising and presenting the programme, and praised their dedication in making the event meaningful and impactful.

The celebration had not only honoured the memory of Mahatma Gandhi also reminded us of the timeless relevance of his teachings. May his legacy of peace, equality, and non-violence continue to inspire and guide us towards a brighter future."

As the event concluded, a heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Aravi of grade 2, acknowledging the contributions of all those who made the programme a resounding success.

The occasion was further marked by the offering of flowers in honour of Mahatma Gandhi. The principal then shared an inspiring message, reminding everyone of Gandhiji’s enduring values of truth, non-violence, and simplicity, and urged all to live them out in daily life.

The programme was gracefully concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem, a powerful homage to the ideals of unity, peace, and harmony that Mahatma Gandhi championed throughout his life. The celebration not only honoured the memory of Mahatma Gandhi but also reminded us of the timeless relevance of his teachings.
