Gujarat, Oct 2: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a stern warning to Pakistan against any aggression in the disputed Sir Creek region, asserting that any hostile move would be met with a “resounding response” capable of changing “history and geography.”
Speaking at a military base near Bhuj while celebrating Dussehra with soldiers and performing the traditional ‘shastra puja’ (worship of weapons), Singh highlighted India’s readiness and the vigilance of its armed forces along the borders.

“Any aggression by Pakistan in the Sir Creek area will be met with a resounding response that will change both history and geography. In 1965, the Indian Army demonstrated its capability to reach Lahore. Today, in 2025, Pakistan should remember that one route to Karachi passes through the creek,” Singh said.
Sir Creek, a 96-km tidal estuary between Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch and Pakistan, remains a disputed region due to differing interpretations of maritime boundaries. Singh noted that despite India’s attempts at dialogue over 78 years of independence, Pakistan’s intentions remain “flawed and unclear,” pointing to recent expansion of Pakistani military infrastructure near the creek as evidence.
Operation Sindoor Highlights
The defence minister also reflected on Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories and concluded after four days of intense clashes on May 10. Singh said the operation achieved all military objectives without escalating into war.
“During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan attempted unsuccessfully to penetrate India’s defence system from Leh to Sir Creek. In retaliation, Indian forces exposed the Pakistani air defence system, sending a clear message that India can inflict heavy losses on Pakistan whenever and wherever necessary,” he said.
Singh emphasized that the fight against terrorism continues and praised the joint coordination of the Army, Air Force, and Navy, calling them the “three pillars” of India’s strength.
“It is the jointness of our armed forces that executed Operation Sindoor in record time. Your strategy, courage, and capability have proven that India can defeat the enemy in every situation. I am fully confident that your valour will continue to protect India’s sovereignty and integrity,” Singh added.
The Defence Minister has performed shastra puja on Dussehra for several years, emphasizing that weapons are “not merely for displaying power” but “a means to establish righteousness.”
