Citizens urge FIR over forced anti-India video featuring minor in Margao

Margao, Sep 28: A delegation of concerned citizens in Margao on Saturday met South Goa District Police Chief SP Tikam Singh Verma, urging registration of an FIR in connection with the alleged forced recording of a Muslim minor boy making anti-India statements.

The citizens claimed the boy was tutored and coerced to chant “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pakistan Ki Jai,” and to repeat other statements against India, which were later circulated as a hate video on social media. They pressed the police to register offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Goa Children’s Act, and to initiate seizure and child protection measures.

The delegation alleged that while the culprit is known, the police had registered an FIR against an unknown person, with sections that, according to them, do not reflect any criminal act. They highlighted the undue influence and bribery used to force the minor into making the video, asserting that the incident impacts national sovereignty and communal harmony.

SP Tikam Singh Verma received the delegation and noted the concerns, with the matter now under scrutiny for appropriate legal action.
