Panaji, Sep 26: As part of the World Tourism Day 2025 celebrations, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, along with industry partners, hosted two lively culinary competitions on September 22 and 23 to celebrate the state’s rich food and beverage traditions and encourage emerging talent.
On September 22, Susegad Spirits – A Beverage Craft Competition for Hoteliers of Goa featured eight teams from leading hotels showcasing creative mixology skills. Soham Tiwari claimed first prize, with Anish Naik and Kirtan Tamang securing second and third places. The contest was judged by experts from Goa’s hospitality and culinary community.
The next day, the All-Goa Culinary Competition titled Goencho Swaad brought together students and homemakers. In the student category, Samiksha Gauda and Durva Parab won first place, followed by Tiya Pai Lotlikar and Chaitanya Arolkar in second, and Ashish Sharma with A. Ayyangalai in third. In the homemaker category, Prashanti and Prakash Sawant emerged winners, while Razia Begum took second and Riha Malik with Bina Vernekar secured third.
Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte lauded the initiative, saying Goa’s culinary heritage “reflects our traditions, our people, and our way of life,” adding that such events position Goa as a culinary hub. Director of Tourism Kedar Naik noted that the competitions nurture creativity among students and young chefs, giving the next generation a platform to showcase Goa’s diverse cuisine.
