Mangaluru, Sep 26: St Agnes School, CBSE, Bendur, celebrated Grandparents’ Day with immense joy and reverence on September 25. The event was organized to honour the unconditional love, wisdom, and sacrifices of grandparents, who remain the guiding lights of families.

The celebration began with children warmly welcoming their grandparents with coat flowers and escorting them to the venue, making them feel cherished and special. The programme was graced by the presence of Dr Kirthi Prasad KS, manager – corporate and health insurance at AJ Hospital, as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Pradeep Misquith, PTA vice president, along with Sr Maria Sarika AC, principal, and Sr Meena Fernandes AC, vice principal.

The day’s programme commenced with a solemn prayer service led by the students, invoking God’s blessings upon the grandparents. This was followed by a graceful welcome dance and a heartfelt welcome speech by Anshel George P, which set the tone for the day’s celebration.

The cultural programme, thoughtfully planned, celebrated the significance of grandparents through nostalgic and joyous performances led by Rushda Moosa and Swajitha Linet Lobo. A touching dance drama highlighted the invaluable role of grandparents in family life, while a lively retro dance transported the audience back to their golden era, filling the hall with smiles and applause.

The chief guest, Dr Kirthi Prasad, engaged the gathering with an insightful session. He shared practical tips on maintaining good health through diet, exercise, and regular checkups. He also highlighted the importance of health insurance and encouraged grandparents to keep their mind and body active through productive routines. His words of wisdom reminded everyone of the irreplaceable role grandparents play in nurturing values and traditions in families.

In her address of gratitude, the principal, Sr Maria Sarika AC, expressed heartfelt thanks to the grandparents for their selfless love and sacrifices, and acknowledged the efforts of the students and staff for presenting such a meaningful celebration.

To add more delight, fun-filled games were conducted for the grandparents, evoking laughter, joy, and playful bonding. Their active participation brought in more joy and ambiance of laughter and happiness.

Many grandparents expressed their deep sense of appreciation towards the institution, cherishing the timeless bond shared by generations with St Agnes School.

The event concluded with a warm vote of thanks delivered by Advika B Kotian, followed by refreshments for all. As a token of love and appreciation, mementos were presented to the grandparents. The programme was gracefully compered by Aaradhana Shetty, Yashaswi, and Aanya Asif.

The Grandparents’ Day celebration at St Agnes School was indeed a heartwarming reminder that grandparents are treasures to be cherished, and their love is an irreplaceable blessing in every child’s life.
