Mumbai, Sep 26: India scored big at the 2025 International Emmy Awards as Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh and his Netflix series Amar Singh Chamkila earned prestigious nominations. Dosanjh has been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor category, while the series has secured a nod in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category.
Reacting to the global recognition, an elated Diljit took to Instagram Stories, writing, “It’s all because of Imtiaz Ali sir @netflix_in.” The series’ director Imtiaz Ali responded warmly, sharing, “Making us proud @diljitdosanjh!!! So well deserved.”
The series, released on Netflix in April 2024, chronicles the life of slain Punjabi folk icon Amar Singh Chamkila, often hailed as the ‘Elvis of Punjab’. The show received widespread critical acclaim for its gripping storytelling and Diljit’s powerful performance as the legendary singer.
This year’s International Emmy nominations saw 62 contenders across 16 categories, highlighting some of the best global talent. Alongside Diljit, the Best Performance by an Actor category features David Mitchell for Ludwig (UK), Oriol Pla for Yo, adicto (Spain), and Diego Vasquez for One Hundred Years of Solitude (Netflix).
