Mangaluru, Sep 25: A programme on impact of drug and other substances on youth and awareness programme on prevention of suicide was held in Government First Grade College, Kavoor in the joint collaboration of IQAC, Anti Drug Cell, NSS, Consumer Club, Rangers and Youth Red Cross. Aruna Kumari, Assistant Professor of Social Work, Government First Grade College, Carstreet, Mangaluru was the resource person.
In her address, Aruna Kumari spoke about the types of addictions, how it works on human brain, and their impact on psychological and sociological well being of youth. She also advised the students to forward their helping hands in identifying the drug cases and reporting it to the concerned authority in time. She addressed the challenges of youth and advised the students to follow some rules to manage the stress level and to prevent the suicide attempts.





Principal of the college, Dr Geetha M L presided over the programme and advised the students to be conscious about the drug abuses and to choose the drug free life. The IQAC coordinator Dr Therese Pereira, coordinator of Red Cross Dr Santhosh Pinto, NSS programme officer Mamatha U, ranger leader Prameela K and Ant Drug Cell coordinator Jyothi Shetty S were present in the dais. Harshitha welcomed the gathering and Nagashree proposed a vote of thanks. Pratheeksha served as event’s master of ceremony.
