Kolkata, Sep 21: Hindi film Homebound has been selected as India’s official entry in the Best International Film category for the 2026 Academy Awards, selection committee chairman N Chandra announced on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, Chandra said 24 films in different languages were in contention to represent the country. “It was a very difficult choice. These are films that touched people's lives. We are not judges, but coaches. We were looking for movies that made their mark,” he added.

The 12-member selection committee comprised producers, directors, writers, editors, and journalists.
Produced by Karan Johar and Adar Poonawalla, Homebound stars Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles. The film narrates the story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India.
