New Delhi, Sep 19: The Delhi Police on Friday apprehended two juveniles in connection with the firing incident at Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s ancestral home in Bareilly, intensifying the probe into the case that has raised serious concerns over the security of high-profile personalities.
Earlier, on September 17, two gangsters identified as Ravindra (24) and Arun (27) — active members of the Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar gang — were gunned down in an encounter near Tronica City, Ghaziabad. The joint operation was carried out by the Delhi Police Special Cell, Uttar Pradesh STF and Haryana STF, during which four officials — including two from Delhi Police Crime Branch and two from UP STF — sustained injuries.
According to investigators, the deceased gangsters had a direct role in the Bareilly firing case, which was suspected to be an intimidation tactic linked to extortion rackets.
The incident occurred in the early hours of September 12, when gunshots were fired at Patani’s residence in Civil Lines, Bareilly, where her family — including father and retired DSP Jagdish Singh Patani, mother, and elder sister Khushbu Patani — reside. CCTV footage showed two shooters arriving on a motorcycle around 3.45 am, before opening fire.
Soon after the attack, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility through a social media post, alleging the firing was in retaliation to remarks purportedly made by Disha Patani and her sister about two religious figures, Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya.
With the arrest of the two juveniles, police say the network behind the attack is becoming clearer, as efforts continue to trace the wider gang involvement and prevent further attempts of intimidation.
