Mangaluru, Sep 12: The inauguration of the Students' Council at Government First Grade College, Kavoor, for the academic year 2025-26 was held on September 11. The chief guests were Sumangala Rao, former deputy mayor of Mangalore City Corporation, and Dr Vijaya V, principal of SDPT First Grade College, Kateel.
The event began with the lighting of the lamp by the guests, followed by the oath-taking ceremony of the council members. The oath was administered by Dr Therese Pereira, associate professor and coordinator of IQAC. Dr Santhosh Pinto, associate professor and student welfare officer, introduced the guests and welcomed the gathering.









In her address, Sumangala Rao spoke about the importance of leadership skills and the need for active participation in college activities. Dr Vijaya V, in his inaugural address, emphasized that the students Council provides a platform for students to develop leadership abilities. He shared examples of various world and national leaders who began their careers by being active student leaders. He also highlighted potential activities that could be organized by the Students' Council. While listing the qualities of good leaders, he cautioned against following the paths of bad leaders.
Prashanth Pai, a member of the College Development Committee (CDC), extolled the virtues of good leadership in his address. The principal, Dr Geetha M L, in her presidential address, encouraged students to become good leaders of the future and thanked the guests and CDC members for their continued support to the college.
Krishnamurthy N B, assistant professor and coordinator of the cultural association, was also present on the dais. Mohammed Munab, president of the Students' Council, proposed a vote of thanks. Lavanya served as the event's emcee.
Soujanya, secretary; Pradeep, vice president; and Sanjana, joint secretary, were also present on the dais.
After the inaugural ceremony, a class-wise Talents’ Day competition was held in the afternoon.
