Konkani national seminar showcases smart medical innovations at St Aloysius University

Mangaluru, Sep 9: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru organizes a national seminar on ‘Advancing healthcare through smart medical instruments and technologies’ in Konkani on September 11–12. This is seminar is supported by All India Council for Technical Education under AICTE- VAANI (Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages). It is the only one seminar supported by AICTE in Konkani Language I the entire state.

The seminar is designed to bring together doctors, researchers, engineers, academicians, and students on a common platform to explore the latest advancements in healthcare technologies while promoting Konkani as a vibrant language for scientific communication. Participants will gain valuable insights into modern diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring devices, as well as emerging trends such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, IoT applications, and wearable medical devices. The program also seeks to bridge the gap between engineering and medical sciences, foster innovation, encourage interdisciplinary research, and promote the development of indigenous, cost-effective healthcare solutions aligned with national priorities.

The technical session includes distinguished experts viz, Dr Edward Nazareth, professor, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre; Dr Rakesh Sera, assistant professor, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences; Dr Joylene D Almeida, professor, Father Muller Medical College; Dr Nitin P Lobo, senior scientist, CATERS, Chennai; Dr Rithesh Dcunha, Father Muller Medical College; Dr Sajjan Shenoy, rheumatologist, Kasturba Medical College; Dr Veena Jasmine Pinto, associate professor, Father Muller Medical College; Dr Shashidhar Kini K, professor, Srinivas Institute of Technology; and Dr Rudolph Joyer Noronha, chief general manager, MRPL.

The sessions will cover a wide range of themes including smart medical technologies, advances in orthopaedics, women’s health, medical imaging, AI and data analytics in healthcare, rheumatic care, and the evolution of healthcare practices in coastal Karnataka, along with live demonstrations of smart instruments.

A unique feature of this seminar is the poster presentation in Konkani, encouraging participants to present research as well as popular science articles in the regional language, thus making scientific knowledge more accessible to the local community.
