Mangaluru, Sep 6: The student council of St Aloysius Gonzaga School, together with the students of Classes X and XII, organised a meaningful Teachers’ Day celebration on September 6.
The occasion was graced by Akshara Santa, renowned social activist and Padma Shri awardee Shri Harekala Hajabba, as the chief guest and Fr Henry Saldanha SJ, superior of ‘Asha Kiran’ Mangaluru, as the guest of honour. Also present were principal Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ, the vice principals, and members of the Parent-Teacher Executive Committee (PTEC).
The celebration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Shri Hajabba, in his address, shared his inspiring life journey and the struggles he overcame to bring about an educational revolution in his village. He expressed gratitude to the government for recognising his efforts with one of the nation’s highest civilian awards and extended his best wishes to the school management, principal, staff and students. As a mark of respect and appreciation, the principal honoured Shri Hajabba with a garland, Mysore Peta, shawl and memento.














In his message, the guest of honour, Fr Henry Saldanha, described teachers as guiding lights of classrooms and true architects of the nation and society.
Principal Fr Rohan D’Almeida, in his address, urged students to remain grateful to their teachers who mould their lives. He spoke about the many roles teachers play in igniting the lamp of knowledge and encouraged students to value their efforts.
The student council, along with classes X and XII, put up an entertaining cultural programme dedicated to the teachers. In the afternoon, the PTEC members felicitated the principal and the teaching staff with a token of gratitude, expressing their appreciation for the dedicated service rendered to the student community.
The day concluded with a fellowship meal, strengthening the bond between teachers, students, and parents. The principal thanked the PTEC for their thoughtful gesture in honouring the teachers.
