Mangaluru, Sep 5: Lourdes Central School marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Junior Red Cross (JRC) Unit on September 2 at LCS conference hall, with great enthusiasm and purpose.
The event was graced by the presence of chief guest CA Shantharam Shetty, District chairman of Indian Red Cross society, along with principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira and vice principal Anitha Thomas. The ceremony began with a welcome speech delivered by Mohamed Uzair, who extended heartfelt greetings to the dignitaries, teachers, and students, expressing the importance of nurturing service-mindedness among the youth.
















The formal inauguration was conducted by the chief guest CA Shantharam Shetty, accompanied by the principal and vice principal, marking the official launch of the Junior Red Cross activities for the academic year.
This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony, where the newly inducted JRC members pledged to uphold the principles of the Red Cross. Then JRC members sang Junior Red Cross anthem, instilling a deep sense of pride and responsibility in every member.
Subsequently, the JRC leaders took the stage to outline the club’s activities planned for the year, which include health awareness campaigns, community outreach programmes, and participation in disaster preparedness training.
Sonia, faculty coordinator, introduced the chief guest, highlighting his professional achievements, commitment to social service, and on-going contributions to community welfare. To honour the occasion, Fr principal felicitated the chief guest with a token of appreciation, acknowledging his presence and support in encouraging youth-led initiatives.
In his inspirational address, chief guest commended the school for fostering values of empathy and civic responsibility. He encouraged the students to actively participate in Red Cross initiatives and be the torchbearers of compassion and social responsibility in society.
Principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, in his address, praised the enthusiasm of the students and emphasized the importance of developing leadership through service. He urged students to uphold the values of the Junior Red Cross in their daily lives and contribute meaningfully to the community.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ayushi, who expressed sincere gratitude to the chief guest, school management, coordinators, and all those who contributed to the successful inauguration of the Junior Red Cross Unit.
The ceremony was a memorable and inspiring beginning to a year of impactful activities, fostering the spirit of service, unity, and responsibility among the young Lourdite Red Cross members.
