Mangaluru: Grand Teacher’s Day celebration held at St. Lawrence English Medium School, Moodubelle

Moodubelle, Sep 5: Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St Lawrence English Medium School to honour the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping the future of students.

The esteemed guests present on the occasion included the correspondent Fr George Thomas D’Souza, chief guest Laveena Barboza – president of Lions Club Moodubelle, administrator CA Pritish Burton D’Sa, PTA president Surekha, senior teacher Precilla Lobo, and headmistress Sandra Lobo. School committee members Ivan Menezes and Joel D’Sa were also present.

The program began with a prayer song invoking God’s blessings, followed by offering flowers to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as a mark of respect and gratitude by the dignitaries. Shriya of Grade 10 extended a warm welcome to the gathering.

Sangeetha the parent addressed the gathering, appreciating the dedication of the teaching fraternity. All teachers were felicitated by the chief guest. Administrator CA Pritish Burton D’Sa announced the Guruvandana Award 2025–26, which was presented to Maria Barboza.

In her address, chief guest Laveena Barboza highlighted the discipline, modesty, and positive changes in the school. She was later honoured by the Correspondent. PTA President Surekha also addressed the gathering.

In his presidential address, Fr George Thomas D’Souza lauded the teaching fraternity, stating, “We have the best teachers in our school. They are not only performing their duties with responsibility but also nurturing every student with love and care. Teachers are the true nation-builders, for they shape the minds of the future generation. Their passion and sacrifice ensure that every child is guided on the path of knowledge and values.”

As part of the celebration, fun games were organized for the teachers, and prizes were distributed by the PTA president. Following the stage program, students showcased their talents through a vibrant cultural performance, including dances, group singing, and skits, which added colour to the celebration. Hamson D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks, while Ashwitha Lobo of Grade 10 gracefully compered the event.

The celebration was a memorable tribute to teachers, reflecting the deep respect and affection students and parents hold for them.
