Pratapgarh, Aug 30: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said the judicial commission’s report on the November 2024 Sambhal violence has confirmed a “conspiracy for riots”, stressing that Uttar Pradesh is now moving towards “satisfaction” and not “appeasement”, where there is no scope for any demographic shift.
The three-member judicial panel submitted its report to the CM on Thursday, highlighting that Hindus were specifically targeted during the flare-up near Shahi Jama Masjid on November 24, which left four people dead and 29 policemen injured. The report also pointed to radical groups, outside rioters, illegal arms, and drug networks being activated to destabilise the region, while crediting swift police action for preventing a massacre.

Adityanath said past governments under the Samajwadi Party and Congress selectively targeted Hindus and altered the demography through riots. “But today, with a double-engine government, no one will be allowed to change the demography. Whoever tries will be forced to flee,” he declared.
Tracing Sambhal’s history of communal strife, the report noted major riots since 1953, citing Turk-Pathan tensions and disputes over the Harihar temple and Babur’s legacy as triggers. It also flagged a sharp demographic shift, stating the Hindu population fell from 45 per cent in 1947 to just 15 per cent now, while Muslims comprise 85 per cent.
At a public event in Pratapgarh, Adityanath inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 186 projects worth Rs 570 crore, while distributing housing keys, Ayushman Bharat golden cards, solar pumps, and other benefits under state and central schemes.
Calling the INDIA bloc “an anti-India alliance”, he alleged that opposition parties promoted mafias, encouraged hooliganism, and suppressed the poor whenever in power. He also condemned “derogatory remarks” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a recent rally, saying, “Abusing him is like spitting at the sun, it only falls back.”
Reiterating his government’s focus on women’s safety, the CM said over 12,000 women were recruited into the police force recently, alongside 2,425 female supervisors in the Women and Child Development Department. He also vowed strict punishment for anyone harming women, declaring, “Anyone who harms a daughter’s honour will face Yamaraj at the next crossroads.”
On the occasion of National Sports Day, Adityanath remembered hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, noting that a sports university is coming up in Meerut and a sports college will be set up in every commissionerate. He said facilities including stadiums and smart city infrastructure would be developed in Pratapgarh to nurture sports talent.
