AI boom reshapes salaries in India’s GCCs, senior roles hit Rs 60 LPA

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 28: The rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rewriting compensation norms across India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with roles in Generative AI Engineering and Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) commanding record salaries, according to a new report by TeamLease Digital.

Senior professionals in these emerging tech roles are now earning between Rs 58–60 lakh per annum (LPA), with annual salary growth crossing 18%. The report attributes this sharp rise to the growing shift toward AI-native operating models that integrate large language models (LLMs), autonomous decision-making, and intellectual property-driven innovation.

High Demand for Niche AI Talent

Specialised skills such as Prompt Engineering, LLM Safety & Tuning, AI Orchestration, Agent Design, Simulation Governance, and AI Compliance are in especially high demand — notably across BFSI, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.

Cybersecurity & Data Roles Also on the Rise

Cybersecurity and Data Engineering continue to be core pillars within GCCs. Average cybersecurity salaries are projected to climb from Rs 28 LPA to Rs 33.5 LPA by FY27 (20% growth), while Data Engineering roles are expected to rise from Rs 23 LPA to Rs 27 LPA (17% growth).

At senior levels, Cybersecurity professionals may command up to Rs 55 LPA, and Data Engineers up to Rs 42 LPA — reflecting the critical importance of secure and scalable data infrastructure.

Cloud Computing Salaries Climb

Cloud roles are advancing as well, with GCC salaries expected to grow from Rs 24 LPA to Rs 28 LPA by FY27. Senior Cloud Architects are now drawing up to Rs 45 LPA, signalling strong demand for cloud-native transformation across industries.

IT Sector Mirrors Growth with Unique Trends

Outside GCCs, the IT Product and Services sector is witnessing similar momentum. Product Management has emerged as the fastest-growing skillset, with salaries forecast to rise by 29% — reaching Rs 42 LPA at senior levels by FY27.

Cloud roles in this sector are also booming, with salaries expected to rise from Rs 31.5 LPA to Rs 37.5 LPA, driven by the need for cloud-first, AI-enabled platforms.

India’s AI Market in Hyper-Growth

India’s AI market is projected to hit $28.8 billion by 2025, growing at a staggering 45% CAGR. AI is becoming central to enterprise value creation, and is expected to significantly reshape job markets — potentially impacting 40% of global roles, especially in IT services, customer support, BFSI, and healthcare.

GCCs to Drive Major Job Creation

According to TeamLease Digital, GCCs will contribute over 22–25% of all new white-collar tech jobs in 2025, led by roles in AI and cloud. Of the projected 4.7 million new tech jobs by 2027, around 1.2 million will be created by GCCs alone — particularly in Generative AI and engineering R&D.

Hiring is also expanding beyond metros, with 130,000–140,000 fresh graduates expected to be recruited in FY25 from Tier-2 and Tier-3 engineering colleges.
