Cupertino, Aug 27: Tech giant Apple has announced that it will host its much-awaited fall launch event on September 9 at 10 a.m., where the company is set to unveil the next-generation iPhone 17 lineup, including a radically slimmer version of its flagship device. The event will be streamed online, continuing the trend of virtual launches introduced during the Covid era.
The official invitation, shared with media outlets, carries the tagline “awe dropping”, hinting at a focus on design innovation and breakthrough features.
According to reports, Apple will roll out an updated standard iPhone 17, two Pro editions, and a brand-new ultra-thin iPhone 17 — the company’s first major design overhaul in years. At just 2 millimeters slimmer than current models, the device is expected to be the thinnest iPhone yet. However, the trade-off may come in the form of shorter battery life and a single rear camera.
The iPhone 17 base model will retain the look of its predecessor, the iPhone 16, but feature a larger display and improved camera system. Meanwhile, the Pro and Pro Max versions will showcase redesigned backs with expanded camera modules, underscoring Apple’s continued emphasis on advanced photography capabilities.
In addition to smartphones, the event is also expected to feature upgraded Apple Watch models. Looking ahead, Apple has a packed product roadmap: a refreshed Vision Pro headset with a faster processor, a new iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip, as well as updates to the HomePod mini and Apple TV box.
The company’s long-term plans include a low-cost iPhone 17e and new Mac accessories next year, the launch of its first smart speaker with a display in 2026, and an ambitious three-year overhaul of the iPhone. Notably, Apple is preparing to introduce its first foldable iPhone in 2026, followed by a curved-glass iPhone in 2027 to mark the product’s 20th anniversary.
With its new lineup, Apple aims to reinforce the iPhone’s dominance in the global smartphone market while enticing customers with slimmer designs, camera upgrades, and next-generation devices.
