Chennai, Aug 21: Tamil actress Manjima Mohan announced on Thursday that she will be stepping away from Instagram temporarily to prioritize her health, peace, and personal well-being. In a heartfelt note shared on the platform, she said the decision comes after recent events reminded her of what truly matters in life.
“The last few days have reminded me of what truly matters — health, peace, and well-being. Everything else can wait,” Manjima wrote. “Sometimes slowing down is the most powerful step forward.”
The actress, known for voicing strong opinions on social issues, recently expressed deep disappointment over the insensitivity shown in public reactions to a tragic airplane crash. In an Instagram story, she had called out those who sensationalized the tragedy or profited from it, saying, “At a time that calls for compassion and respect, is this truly the example we want to set for the next generation?”

Manjima, who has been a prominent figure in both Tamil and Malayalam cinema, marked her 10-year anniversary in the film industry this March. Reflecting on the milestone, she penned a message of gratitude to directors, co-stars, producers, the media, and especially her fans for their continued support.
“There’s still so much to achieve, a long road ahead, and many dreams to fulfill,” she wrote at the time.
The actress first rose to fame with the Malayalam hit Oru Vadakkan Selfie, and later made her Tamil debut opposite Silambarasan in Gautham Menon’s Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. Known for her nuanced performances, she most recently received acclaim for her role in the Tamil web series Suzhal 2.
As she takes a step back from social media, fans have expressed their support for her decision, wishing her peace and strength during this pause.
