Mangaluru, Aug 20: In a consumer centered market, consumer is the king. However, a consumer needs to be aware while transacting in the market. In this context, in order to create an awareness about consumer rights and duties, Government First Grade College, Kavoor have formed a ‘Jagrathi Consumer Club’, which organizes a number of awareness activities throughout the year. As a part of the activities, a certificate course in consumer education is being organized for BCom and BBA students.
The certificate course was inaugurated on August 13 by Mallika M, lecturer of Commerce, Government PU College, Hampankatta by lighting the lamp. In her inaugural address she explained the importance of consumer education in our life and briefly explained the various provisions of Consumer Protection Act, 2019. She advised the students to reach out to the society and share their knowledge with consumers who have less exposure for consumer education. She also insisted that students should exercise their rights as consumers in their daily life.








Dr Therese Pereira, IQAC coordinator and convener of consumer club gave introductory insights about the certificate course. Principal Dr Geetha M L, in her presidential remark explained different consumer related issues by quoting some case studies.
Dr Ashwin Loyal Mendonca, IQAC co-coordinator, Dr Santhosh Pinto, student welfare officer, Jyothi Shetty, convener of Commerce and Management association, the student secretaries Ashik Poojary, III BBA and UmeshIhole, III BCom were present on the stage. Shivani, III BBA compeered the programme, Sanjana, III BBA welcomed the gathering and Munab, III BCom proposed vote of thanks.
