Mangaluru, Aug 19: Expert Pre-University College, Valachil, commemorated India's 79th Independence Day with immense enthusiasm and patriotism. Col Nithin Bhide (retired), former commanding officer of the 18 Karnataka NCC Battalion, Mangaluru, was the chief guest who hoisted the national flag at the Time Square in the campus.
In his address, Col Bhide emphasized the importance of reflecting on the sacrifices made by unsung heroes for the country's freedom and asked audience to spare a thought for all great souls who contributed to the unity and growth of our country. He urged students to excel in their chosen careers, be disciplined citizens, and contribute to making India great by its centenary year of independence.






















Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of the Expert Group of Institutions, highlighted the significance of understanding the value of freedom and safeguarding it. He stressed that hard work and discipline are essential for nation-building and that Expert College plays a vital role in this endeavor.
Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, administered the oath to the newly elected members of the students' parliament, emphasizing that freedom brings great responsibilities. She encouraged students to work towards making India a developed nation by 2047.
The event featured a cultural program with patriotic songs, dance performances, and a human pyramid formation by students. Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal, welcomed the gathering. Other dignitaries present included Ankush N Nayak, IT director, Expert Group of Institutions, Subramanya Udupa, vice principal (academics), Dhruthi V Hegde, vice principal (admin) and Suresha K, programme director.
Muhammed Ameen, president of the students' parliament, proposed the vote of thanks.
Students Adithi Rao, Dhyan R, Srushti K Dandi and Ahil Abid Ahmed hosted programmes.
