Udupi, Aug 16: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE) marked the 79th Independence Day with vibrant pride and patriotism.
A week-long celebration under the theme “Our country – our pride” saw students shine in competitions like freedom fighter role play, patriotic art, essay writing, painting and sketching, street play, and compering with a difference all which provided students with creative platforms to express their love for the nation.
On August 15, the tricolour was unfurled, followed by a spirited cultural programme by students of grade 9. Pavani accorded words of welcome to esteemed dignitaries and the audience.
The highlights included a solemn prayer service seeking God’s blessings for the nation and its citizens, enigmatic dances, a poignant skit ‘A tribute to our soldiers’ which evoked emotions of gratitude for the defence forces, soul-stirring melody of patriotic songs, and a tribute presentation to prominent freedom fighters.


















The chief guest Parasappa Ingalagi, a Kargil war veteran, shared his firsthand experiences, reminding students that freedom comes at a high cost. He urged them to strengthen the nation through their talents and values.
The event was also graced by the vice principal, - Sr Preethi AC, PTA vice president- Shamil Quadros and PTA executive committee members.
The programme concluded with the principal’s greetings followed by the National Anthem, leaving every heart brimming with pride and gratitude for India’s brave hearts—past and present.
