Mangaluru, Aug 16: The 79th Independence Day celebration at St Agnes High School was marked by national pride and spirited enthusiasm. The programme commenced with the gathering of students on the PUC ground.
The chief guest officer Cadet Sudeep Raj was ceremoniously escorted in a dignified procession, accompanied the principal Sr Norine D’Souza, the headmistress of the High School, Sr Gloria AC, PTA vice president of PUC and high school Shabnam and Gracy Menezes by the rhythmic beats of the school band, while the NCC cadets marched with impeccable precision, the girl guides added grace and charm to the occasion.
























The proudest moment of the day was the flag hoisting by the chief guest. As the tricolour was hoisted, the national anthem echoed in the air, filling every heart with pride.
The celebrations resumed in the school hall with a meaningful cultural programme organised by class 10 A. It began with a prayer service, followed by a gracious welcome address by Narasappa. A lively welcome dance, performed in traditional South Indian attire, infused colour and elegance into the event.
A speech by Kanchana and Chaithra on the significance of the day rekindled the memory of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. A cheerful memory game on recalling the names of freedom fighters brought smiles in the faces of the audience. A heartfelt tribute to soldiers through a lovely dance stirred deep emotions.
The chief guest, Gretta Menezes began her message by singing Vande Mataram melodiously. She inspired students to become responsible citizens of India. The headmistress Sr Gloria AC congratulated the class teacher Suneetha and the students of class 10 A for organising a exquisite programme. The day’s festivities concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Ancilla Albuquerque. The Independence Day programme was articulously hosted by Prathviraj.
