Bengaluru, Aug 16: Ola Electric Mobility Ltd on Friday announced a series of innovations under its Gen 3 initiative, including the indigenously developed Bharat Cell 4680, ferrite motor technology and AI-enabled MoveOS6 software, as part of its vision to make India a global leader in the electric vehicle space.
Speaking at the company’s annual Sankalp event themed India Inside, Ola Electric founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said, “We started Ola Electric four years ago. Today we show you the vision for New India, a strong and self-sufficient India in the EV sector. We want to be the number one electric vehicle company in the world.”
Unveiling the Bharat Cell 4680 developed at the Krishnagiri factory, Aggarwal said the new cell offers faster recharging, improved safety features and lower production costs. Ola Electric’s R&D head Rajesh Mekkat added that the cell provides 15 years of life, five times the capacity of existing competitors, and enables 80% charging within 15 minutes.
Aggarwal also launched Ferrite Motor Technology, an alternative to rare earth magnets. “India needs to leapfrog to the next generation as these magnets come from very few nations. Vehicles equipped with ferrite motors will be rolled out in Q3 of this financial year,” he said.
In addition, Ola introduced its AI-powered MoveOS6 software, offering features such as voice assistance, blind spot detection, collision alerts and multi-language support in 11 Indian languages. The update will be available to all Ola customers from January 2026, according to Anirbhan Das, Head of Software Engineering.
A new Ola Pro Sport scooter powered by Bharat Cell was also unveiled, alongside the futuristic Diamond Head electric motorcycle prototype, expected to launch by mid-2027 at under Rs 5 lakh. Aggarwal claimed the bike, capable of accelerating 0–100 kmph in 2 seconds, will redefine electric two-wheelers globally.
“We want to change the face of EVs forever. With Diamond Head, a rider becomes the ride,” Aggarwal said, reaffirming the company’s commitment to innovation under the Gen 3 programme.
