St Agnes School (CBSE) students ace badminton & chess at prestigious district events

Mangaluru, Aug 12: In a spirited showcase of sporting excellence and determination, students of St Agnes School (CBSE), made a mark at the Yonex-Sunrise, Dakshina Kannada district sub-junior and junior Badminton Tournament 2025, organised by the Dakshina Kannada Badminton Association.

The event, held on August 9 and 10 at the Urwa Indoor Stadium, Mangaluru, brought together some of the most promising young talents from across the district.

Leading the charge, Sweedal Saanvi D’Souza of grade VI D emerged as a double title winner, securing first place in the under-11 singles and first place in the under-11 doubles. Her stellar performance, marked by swift reflexes and consistent precision, earned her well-deserved victories in both categories.

Continuing the winning momentum, Renisha V Mathias of grade X C claimed second place in the under-15 doubles, while Thasvi S K of grade VIII C secured second place in the under-13 doubles, each displaying remarkable coordination and tenacity.

Beyond the badminton court, Anshel George P of grade IX A brought laurels to the school by winning second place in the chess tournament organised by the Christian Sports Association at Sahodaya Hall, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University). Her keen strategy and composure were instrumental in his success.

These outstanding accomplishments highlight the school’s dedication to fostering excellence in every sphere. The management, principal, vice principal, staff, and students proudly congratulated the young achievers for their hard work, sportsmanship, and for bringing honour to the institution.
